What is Apple ID?
It is a unique account provided by Apple that enables users to access various Apple services and products. With Apple ID, users can conveniently make purchases, utilize iCloud storage, sync data seamlessly across Apple devices and sign in to any Apple device and online services.
How to create Apple ID?
You must create an account to continue using any Apple device so when you turn on your new Apple device for the first time, a pop-up box will appear asking you to sign in with your ID. Since you don’t have one yet, select the option to Create Your Apple ID.
If you’re using a non-Apple platform and want to create an account, you can do it here.
Important points when creating an account
1️⃣ Use a valid email address: Make sure to provide only an active and valid email address and it will be associated with the account and used for communication from Apple and account recovery.
2️⃣ Strong password: Choose a unique and strong password and do not reuse the same password you use for your email login or any previous passwords.
3️⃣ Enable two-factor authentication: This will require a verification code sent to your trusted device or phone number when signing in from a new device.
4️⃣ Security questions: Select questions with answers only you would know and hard-to-guess answers for others.
Forgot your Apple ID or Password
Suddenly feel that you may have created an account before but can’t remember the email address you used or have forgotten your login password, you can try to reset them here.
If you happen to forget your login ID password, you can reset the password through the email link with your Apple ID but if you are not able to access the email link with your Apple ID, don’t worry you can still reset it by answering your Security Questions.
⚠️ When resetting your Apple ID password through Security Questions and entering the wrong answers three times, your Apple ID will be locked for security reasons, then you will need to contact Apple ID Account Security at 1-800-803-638 (Malaysia) for support.
What does it do for my Mac?
It is important for accessing the App Store, software updates, iCloud services, iMessage and Apple Pay. iCloud service includes:
1️⃣ Calendar
2️⃣ Contact
3️⃣ FaceTime
4️⃣ Find My Mac
5️⃣ iCloud Drive
6️⃣ Keychain (Password)
7️⃣ Notes
8️⃣ Reminders
Apple will never contact you via any means to request your Apple ID and password so if you receive any request claiming to be from Apple and asking for your Apple ID and password, it is most likely a fraudulent attempt (phishing).
