3️⃣ Reset SMC (System Management Control)
M1 and M2 Macs: Not Applicable to M processor Macs because Apple has integrated all the functions of the SMC directly into the processor. This means that functions like power management, thermal management and other related tasks are now handled internally by the processor itself.
All MacBook models from 2009 with Intel processor:
Shut down the computer (ensure it is completely off).
Disconnect the power adapter.
Press and hold the Left Shift, Control, Option keys and power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
4️⃣ Reset PRAM / NVRAM
M1 and M2 Macs: Not Applicable to M processor Macs because the system will test it during startup, if there is an issue, it will be automatically reset during startup.
All MacBook models from 2009 with Intel processor:
Shut down the computer (ensure it is completely off).
Disconnect the power adapter.
Press the power button and release, then hold down Command, Option, P key and R key for 20 seconds.
Then release the keys and allow the Mac to proceed with its normal startup process. If you own an older Mac that emits a startup chime, keep holding down the keys until you hear a second chime during the startup.
